The medal card of Ernest John Barnes shows that he was in the 2nd
Battalion East Surrey Regiment (you can see the '2' before the name of
the regiment. He was a private with the service number 7573 (this is
confirmed from the actual medals). The theatre of war first served in is
(1) France, subsequent service in Salonika is not shown here. Card shows
entitlement to the Victory Medal, British Medal and the 15 Star. No S W
B entry as we know Ernest John Barnes was not wounded although he did
contract malaria in Salonika. Date of discharge is
