The card tells us the
Robert H Barnes was a private in the Queen's Regiment with the service
number G/21135. He qualified for the
Victory Medal and the
British Medal but not the
14 Star or 14/15 Star. This would indicate that Robert H. Barnes didn't
enter service until 1916 and this is confirmed by the absence of the
Theatre of War first served in and the date of entry - this denotes
first operational service in France in 1916. We do know from the Commonwealth
Graves Commission site that Robert Harry Barnes was killed on the Somme
on the 27th
February 1917. His name is recorded on the Thiepval Memorial. He has no
known grave. |
