Robert Harry Barnes Medal Index Card:

The card tells us the Robert H Barnes was a private in the Queen's Regiment with the service number G/21135. He qualified for the Victory Medal and the British Medal but not the 14 Star or 14/15 Star. This would indicate that Robert H. Barnes didn't enter service until 1916 and this is confirmed by the absence of the Theatre of War first served in and the date of entry - this denotes first operational service in France in 1916. We do know from the Commonwealth Graves Commission site that Robert Harry Barnes was killed on the Somme on the 27th February 1917. His name is recorded on the Thiepval Memorial. He has no known grave.
